Most mods have an update checker integrated that will tell you when an update is available.

You can also use the Twitch/Curse launcher to create a custom pack with the mods you want and it will AFAIK also notify you and make downloading easier.

The Twitch/Curse launcher will notify you if there's a mod update. If you click the button to update, it automatically removes the old version and replaces it with the new version.

You shouldn't. If you have a profile in the Curse/Twitch launcher, you can just click run and it opens the Minecraft launcher with the correct information, so you can just run the game.

There is a way to move mods from the Twitch directory to the standard, but I don't have my notes on me at the moment.

But since I preferred the standard (since I find it easier to navigate,) I did code myself some PowerShell scripts to keep up to date.

It's my opinion. I never said you should, just that it can be done with enough poking around.

I'm just not entirely familiar with the Curse/Twitch launcher.
