Posted July 11, 20178 yr I recently went back and played some Beta 1.7.3, and was struck by how much larger the stars were. See this? The issue is, I don't have the first idea how to change this. I can't even find the exact location in the vanilla code that determines the size of stars. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
July 11, 20178 yr I don't know much about rendering, but it looks like RenderGlobal#renderStars is used to render the stars into a VBO/display list at startup and when the renderers are reloaded (e.g. when resources are reloaded or a new save is loaded). The VBO/display list is then rendered in RenderGlobal#renderSky(float, int). Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.

It's all very obscure and unreadable
July 13, 20178 yr I think you can change the appearance of stars by modifying particles.png in a resource pack. Maybe there's some extra space you could fill up. ...nah, I don't see anything, it just appears to be hardcoaded. I think it's the `double d3 = (double)(0.15F + random.nextFloat() * 0.1F);` line that determines the size, but I'm not sure how to change it. Edited July 13, 20178 yr by Kenkron
July 13, 20178 yr Maybe double d3 = (double)(0.25F + random.nextFloat() * 0.1F); ? Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice. Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked. DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
