When ever I install 1.12 forge, my inventory item textures appear to be broken or jumbled. This made certain items frustrating to identify. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try turning on a resource pack and turning it off. I had something like that and that fixed mine.

Disable the loading screen, and try removing mods.
