i tried using the jar installer but i got this message. i followed the steps from the other threads where you enter java -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -jar forge-1.12.2-14.23.0.2491-installer in the cmd but it says Error: Unable to access jarfile forge-1.12.2-14.23.0.2491-installer

really not sure what else to do at this point

Then you did not follow them correctly. Describe exactly what you did, preferably with screenshots.

i didn't have an option to open cmd when doing the shift + right click so i just opened it the usual way, typed it in, and got this.

Unless you renamed the jar file to remove the file extension (in which case, why?), that is not the name of the installer file.

what is then? thats what it says on the .jar that i downloaded

Because Windows (stupidly) hides file extensions. Now, what would the file extension on a .jar file be...

it would just be named after this right? i tried it without adding .jar to the end and with it

Start typing the name and hit tab to complete it -.-

You're missing the .jar at the end.

Diesieben, stop being a pain.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

Do not rename the file.

The file is called "forge-blablabla-installer.jar", but you told Java to run "forge-blablabla-installer", which does not exist.

i did do .jar aswell, both come up as an error

Then show us that, and make sure you're in the same folder that you downloaded the installer to.

How i can fix this problem?

(fml ---->  forge-1.9.4-12.17.0.2051-installer)

1) Dont hijack other peoples threads

2) Don't use 1.9.4, update to 1.12.2

3) fml.jar IS NOT the installer jar.
