Posted November 19, 20177 yr I know this question has been asked before, but I haven't been able to find a useful/confirmed answer. 1. When a recipe is added to the Minecraft recipe book, how do you make it go to a particular tab? e.g. at present, all my modded tool recipes go into the miscellaneous tab instead of the tools/weapons tab. I'd like them to go into the tools/weapons tab. 2. Is it possible to create a custom tab in the recipe book for one's mod items? If so, how? November 19, 20177 yr I think you mean : setCreativeTab( CreativeTabs.MATERIALS ); ? About create a tab i know it's possible, i've seen a tuto to do it, but idk how to proceed, if i found the link i post it here.

Creative Tab != Recipe Tab The creative tab is where the item appears in the creative mode inventory and has dick to do with the recipe book. November 19, 20177 yr Author Draco18s is correct. I am referring to the shiny new vanilla Recipe Book, introduced in 1.12 or so. Stuff I maintain: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/members/sinhika/projects Repositories: https://github.com/Sinhika?tab=repositories
November 19, 20177 yr For your first question, I found that the tabs grab their recipes from a few of the creative tabs. Spoiler Class: GuiRecipeBook private final List<GuiButtonRecipeTab> recipeTabs = Lists.newArrayList(new GuiButtonRecipeTab(0, CreativeTabs.SEARCH), new GuiButtonRecipeTab(0, CreativeTabs.TOOLS), new GuiButtonRecipeTab(0, CreativeTabs.BUILDING_BLOCKS), new GuiButtonRecipeTab(0, CreativeTabs.MISC), new GuiButtonRecipeTab(0, CreativeTabs.REDSTONE)); But after a bit more digging I found that anything in the combat creative tab is also shoved into the tools recipe tab and anything other than building blocks or redstone is shoved into the MISC tab. Spoiler Class: RecipeBookClient private static CreativeTabs getItemStackTab(ItemStack p_194084_0_) { CreativeTabs creativetabs = p_194084_0_.getItem().getCreativeTab(); if (creativetabs != CreativeTabs.BUILDING_BLOCKS && creativetabs != CreativeTabs.TOOLS && creativetabs != CreativeTabs.REDSTONE) { return creativetabs == CreativeTabs.COMBAT ? CreativeTabs.TOOLS : CreativeTabs.MISC; } else { return creativetabs; } } so if you want your weapons to go into the tools recipe tab, you would have to assign them to the tools creative tab or the combat creative tab. As for your second question, there does not seem to be a way to add a new tab to the recipe book. the tab list is final and there does not even seem to be a system to stop tabs from rendering off of the screen if there are enough of them, as the tabs are simply set to be under each other. Spoiler class: GuiRecipeBook private void updateTabs() { int i = (this.width - 147) / 2 - this.xOffset - 30; int j = (this.height - 166) / 2 + 3; int k = 27; int l = 0; for (GuiButtonRecipeTab guibuttonrecipetab : this.recipeTabs) { CreativeTabs creativetabs = guibuttonrecipetab.getCategory(); if (creativetabs == CreativeTabs.SEARCH) { guibuttonrecipetab.visible = true; guibuttonrecipetab.setPosition(i, j + 27 * l++); } else if (guibuttonrecipetab.updateVisibility()) { guibuttonrecipetab.setPosition(i, j + 27 * l++); guibuttonrecipetab.startAnimation(this.mc); } } }

I doubt that I am the only modder who likes their mod items neatly organized, whether it's in custom creative tabs or this new recipe book thing.
