For the life of me, I can't figure out why you should even care. If you check "this chunk" and then the 3 neighbor chunks at +X, +Z, and +X+Z (all of which are guaranteed to already exist, even if they have not yet been populated) then you should be fine.

If they have been populated already, you don't cause further population. If the current chunk caused anything to appear in them, you find it. If they haven't been populated, you don't cause further population (because vanilla already expects cross-chunk-boundary placements to occur in this direction and not cascade population). If the current chunk caused anything to appear in them, you find it. If that chunk's own population would place it, but it hasn't populated yet, you don't need to care, because it will fire its own population event.

ALL OTHER CHUNKS ARE IRRELEVANT

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
