I'm creating a mod to make you take all the steps of surviving in minecraft in a specific order similar to an RPG. Using the advancement system I've been able to restrict the use of certain items (diamond tools and armour) to certain advancements (attack and defense level requirements.) The issue here is the only way I've been able to do this is to restrict the recipes to the basics and then add the new recipes as the player progresses. The vanilla advancements break this system and there doesn't seem to be a way to disable them or overwrite them with something new (tried both). Looking for any direction as to what to do here. Starting to think I should just restart the whole system and create my own stat tracking for the skills instead of using the built in advancements. The issue is I have little to no experience developing gui and tracking like that from scratch. Any tips or helpful snippets of code would be appreciated.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

Ok thanks. I'll have a look through the code and if it's above my head I might have to still give stat tracking a try. Could work better for my scenario anyway.

EDIT: Yea that bit of code is a bit too complex for me to read and implement. I sorta understand what it's trying to do. So now follow up question. How would I get started calling stats from the vanilla stats from the escape menu to use them in a calculation for skill level and then of course I can use that as a parameter for my advancements or giving the recipes that way.
