[1.5] Why do I put the textures?

What folder? I know mods/{modname}/textures/{blocks or items}/TEXTURES_GO_HERE.png but minecraft can never find my textures. I have no idea where to put it.

If you're referring to an animated texture, you use .txt files to config them now. Check the vanilla textures folders inside the minecraft.jar

 

If you mean sprite sheets in general, they've been done away with.  Every texture has its own file now. Check the link above.

I'm guessing you have your code in mcp/src/minecraft/, that is your root directory.

I was the same up until about 5 minutes ago. For me the file path looks like: forge\mcp\src\minecraft\mods\MODNAME\textures\blocks. I had to create the mods folder.
