Posted June 25, 20187 yr Hello. I'm working on a mod called Crystalline (source code here), and I can't quite figure out how to use an OBJ model to render an item depending on its NBT. If anyone can help me as soon as possible, please do. I'm anticipating a release date of the mod fairly soon. I would like to implement this rendering into the ItemCrystal class. I have already added OBJLoader.INSTANCE.addDomain(MODID); to my ClientProxy locally, but it may not be in the Git version. ItemCrystal.java Edited June 25, 20187 yr by tpzker
June 25, 20187 yr never worked with custom item models but i found this in the Item class.. : @SideOnly(Side.CLIENT) public void setTileEntityItemStackRenderer(@Nullable net.minecraft.client.renderer.tileentity.TileEntityItemStackRenderer teisr) { this.teisr = teisr; } its client sided .. named renderer.. maybe you can change the model in there with a simple switch checking for the NBT? but i am not sure tho..

I researched a bit, and it doesn't look like that can be used for what I need. Edited June 26, 20187 yr by tpzker
June 26, 20187 yr Author I have created an ItemMeshDefinition, but it doesn't seem to allow me to render an OBJ with it. June 26, 20187 yr To specify a model based on NBT data look at vanilla's ItemBow and it's model. While it doesn't use NBT data you can easily adapt the code there to use NBT. By the error in your log it looks like vanilla json can't have a non-vanilla obj(provided by forge) as it's parent.
