Hello,

Semi-Recently I decided to play a bit a singlepalyer minecraft. However it has started to lag horribly. I currently have two extra mods alongside forge, but it is neither of them since if I uninstall them and keep forge the lag stays. There is lag when palying or removing blocks, when mobs move, when i take damage, etc. These stops seem to happen every few minutes. I have tried everything that I can think of. I gave minecraft more memory, it now has six G, I tried to see if it was another mod, I reinstalled minecraft, I updated my minecraft version, I even went to see if it was my texture pack.

Mods installed:

Forge 1.12

Optifine 1.12

Worldedit 1.12

Any help would be appreciated.

If it's spikes every few minutes, try lowering your RAM rather than raising it.

Explanation: Java uses a Garbage collector to reclaim RAM that is no longer in use, giving Minecraft more ram is like increasing the size of your garbage can, sure you can go longer without taking out the trash but when you eventually do have to take it out the trash bag is now much heavier and it takes more work to take it out, too much ram will cause lag spikes when the garbage collector finally runs.

The other issue is Forge does more than vanilla, so if you have a relatively low-powered laptop or something of that nature you may be stuck.

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.

I lowered it from 6 g to 2 g and it didn't do anything. Also my computer is not low end, it is probably somewhere between middle and high and is built for gaming. Also I forgot to mention that I ran software to update my drivers and to clean up redundant and junk file son my PC if that matters.

I appear to somehow have fixed it. I ran my cleaning program again and updated the drivers again. I also reinstalled minecraft again and shut my computer down. My computer is often on for very long periods of time and it is working today.
