Right-click the project, Build Path -> Configure Build Path. Then click Libraries and Add External JARs to add a dependency.

i had tryed this however for some reason it wouldnt load the mod for when i loaded the test client provided by forge

after looking into the console a bit i have noticed why it wasnt working it was due to me accidently giveing the mod the same mod id as the dependency the issue now is fixed and my mod is loading fine thankyou for the help

That’s how you add a jar to your workspace, not how you add a dependency to your mod. You need to tell Forge that you require this mod to be installed. You can also optionally package your dependency inside your mod with gradle

how would this be done as it is seeming fine but if thats the wrong way might as well fix it

It works fine in a dev environment, but when you try and play minecraft with the mod, it will not have the mods it needs so it will crash (and because it will not have told Forge that it depends on another mod, it won't be obvious that this is the problem)
