Is this from a pre-made modpack or are you making this pack yourself?

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.

Where are you getting Forge and your mods?

So you're saying you took a pre-made modpack and added more mods?

Oh goodness there is so much sketchiness there.

Did you get any mods from 9Minecraft or a similar site? If so, delete it immediately.

Where did you get that forge-1.12.2.exe that looks like a grass block? Delete that and anything else you got from the same site.

If this is your mods folder remove everything related to the installation of Forge.

Are you running the server straight off your desktop? Don't do that.

I'd rather not get into discord over this.

The problem here is it looks like it would be easier to tell you to just completely delete everything and start over with these changes:

Install the StopModReposts  browser extension, this will alert you when you visit a site that is blacklisted by the project.

Only get Forge from http://files.minecraftforge.net, any other site is NOT the official Forge download and thus may have malware or other undesirable programs shoehorned in.

Only get mods from reputable sources (The most reputable source right now is https://minecraft.curseforge.com), some mod authors insist on using their own websites as the official source, but you should always check CurseForge first, since that's where almost every mod gets uploaded by the author.

Now we have the original problem, you added mods that were created after the original pack was made, some of these mods require a newer Forge version than the one the pack originally shipped with.

In other words the issue isn’t “Forge is missing”, it’s “I need a different version of Forge”

That is not the point. Please, take the time to read the page I linked to above.

Read the error screen. It lists which Forge version is required minimum for every mod. Take the highest one that any one of them needs.
