i installed a few mods for java but cant seem to get them to open up and when i click on forge to open up the only thing that pops up is to install it even though i already have. ive looked it up everywhere but am not really sure what im looking for. Please help, thank you

All you have to do is:

Install Forge
Put your mods in the mods folder
Start Minecraft Forge

So at which point do you have trouble?

Curse/Overwolf: If you are using the Curse Launcher, their configurations break Forge's log settings, fortunately there is an easier workaround than I originally thought, this works even with Curse's installation of the Minecraft launcher as long as it is not launched THROUGH Twitch:

If you don't know the difference between server and client you should only be using a client.

Never mind..im getting an error and it wont let me screen shot it but it says "An unexpected error has occurred. Installation cannot continue. Error message: For input string "x""

You have a very old coremod installed... mods are almost always only compatible with the Minecraft version they were deigned to run on, so check the versions.

  I am wanting to rename the file of my mod for ease of recognition as when modding I have a base mod that I use with everything needed for set-up complete, ready for me to make a mod. However, when I do I need to reload the Gradle build script. There is usually a pop-up in my IDE (IntelliJ) that allows me to load it, though it is not present after changing the file name. How would I load the Gradle build script and am I doing anything wrong with how I mod? Advice would be much appreciated.
