Drachenbauer Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 (edited) Hello i have this method: Spoiler public static <T extends Entity>EntityType<T> registerEntityAndEgg(IForgeRegistry<Item> itemRegistry, Class<T> entityClass, Function<? super World, T> factory, int eggPrimaryColor, int eggSecondaryColor, int trackingRange, int updateFrequency, boolean sendVelocityUpdates, String name) { @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") EntityType<T> type = (EntityType<T>) EntityType.Builder.create(entityClass, factory).tracker(trackingRange, updateFrequency, sendVelocityUpdates).build(Reference.MOD_ID + '.' + name).setRegistryName(name); itemRegistry.register(new ItemSpawnEgg(type, eggPrimaryColor, eggSecondaryColor, new Item.Properties().group(ItemGroup.MATERIALS)).setRegistryName(name + "_spawn_egg")); return type; } I have two questions abour it: 1. in the way i register my entitys now (whitout the method), i have specifc names for "EntityType<T> type", wich i also use to connect them with the lines in the RegisterEntities-area. But how do i rename them like that, if i call the method with this? registerEntityAndEgg(event.getRegistry(), EntityRed.class, EntityRed::new, 0xdf0000, 0xdfbf9f, 32, 1, true, "red"); (sample for my red bird) 2. as i added "setRegistryName(name)" to the end of the entity-line in the method, i got a warning, that something is unchecked there and i had to add a line: @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") above it. what exactly does that mean in this case, why there is something unchecked? DavidM Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 The uncheck warning is about unchecked generic operations (i.e. casts). Your compiler is telling you "this operation might go wrong". Drachenbauer Posted March 2, 2019 Author Posted March 2, 2019 (edited) What should go wrong wth using the "String name" in the top line of my method for the RegistryName of my Entity? Where i call the method, i fill it with a valid registry name (all lover case) and about the first question here? Edited March 2, 2019 by Drachenbauer Quote
Drachenbauer Posted March 7, 2019 Author Posted March 7, 2019 I think, now i have got the right string together to call it: EggRed = registerEntityAndEgg(event.getRegistry(), EntityRed.class, EntityRed::new, 0xdf0000, 0xdfbf9f, 32, 1, true, "red"); "EggRed" holds the entity-vaules of this bird to use in the entity registration. Ill test this version now Quote
