[1.13.2] Client on screen text rendering

First off, I'm not new to programming and currently am a CS student working primarily with Java. However, I have no experience with Forge modding.

Basically I want to add things to be displayed, such as armor status, direction, and status effect on screen client side with Forge and maybe update some of my favorite mods from 1.7.10 to 1.13.2

I can't find any good resources for doing this in 1.13.2 and was wondering if one of yall could point me in the right direction. I'd prefer reading documentation and source code over watching youtube videos if that's at all possible.

Thanks,

Crick

Since forge for 1.13 is still being developed and hasn't had a stable release yet,

there is not really any documentation.

I think 1 or 2 things have been updated at https://mcforge.readthedocs.io/en/1.13.x/

other than that your are stuck with looking at the mkd, finished 1.13 mods and the forge and mineraft sources itself to figure out how stuff is done.

In your case look  how vanilla displays these information and work from there.

You should get familiar with forge events and subscribing them and basically most of things that you want do to, can be done using RenderGameOverlayEvent

Rendering text hasn’t changed from 1.12.2 to 1.13.2, any code from 1.12.2 should work fine. You should also look at the vanilla classes to see how they do it
