I've downloaded Forge from this link > https://files.minecraftforge.net/maven/net/minecraftforge/forge/index_1.14.2.html < using the "installer" button

It downloads properly but upon opening the installer (a .jar file) it opens a black box, flashes text, then immediately closes out

I'm unable to provide a screenshot due to how quickly the box closes, but I took a burst picture with my phone and can relay the text:

C:\Program Files\Java\jre-9.0.4\bin\java.exe

Error: Could not find or load main class C:\Users\tyrar\Desktop\forge-1.14.2-26.0.35-installer.jar

Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: C:\Users\tyrar\Desktop\forge-1.14.2-26.0.35-installer.jar

I also downloaded version 26.0.5 (as per the instructions of a video on how to install the new Forge update) and got the same issue

So far I've tried restarting my computer and downloading the latest version of Java, but neither solution worked

Try jarfix

You're running the installed incorrectly.

You could also run it manually by:

java -jar forge-1.14.2-26.0.35-installer.jar

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

Jarfix worked, thank you!
