[1.14.4] any tutorials on how to create a custom furnace?

I am trying to make a new furnace that can not only smelt default recipes, but is the only furnace that can smelt other recipes from my mod such as refining steel. Anyone know any tutorials/documentation?

Take a look at how vanilla sets up furnace recipes. You will probably end up extending AbstractFurnace and setting up a new registry (they're not that difficult).

Do you still have to register tile entities and containers? Also what if I wanted to add an extra input and output slot?

Yes. Nothing will ever save you from having to do this. You must always register your things.

Nothing's stopping you from doing this.
