So I want to install Forge, but the installer won't run. I have no idea how to use java to run the file - I have tried to install it, but I cannot find the executable file to run the Forge installer with. Please help!!

Theoretically, if you used an installer for Java it should have associated with .JAR files, so you should be able to just double-click the Forge installer and launch it that way.

I assume you're using Windows?

I double click, and a window opens for a split second and closes again. Nothing further happens.

Make sure you are in the correct folder when running the java command from the cmd line. If you are, please post a screenshot or exactly what it shown in the console, as well as a screenshot of the folder showing the forge installer. This will help determine what is going wrong. :)

javac is the java compiler; just use java

also, you need -jar before the filename.

None of the above worked. I tried with the java file in either the Program Files or the Program Files (x86)
