Hey guys,

Im fairly new to modding and was wondering if there is a way to inject some code into the Minecraft.getInstance().player object.

What I'm trying to do is that I want to make the player always be able to sprint even though they are going backwards.

I have looked into the minecraft source code and found that there is a check in the update function that sets the sprint state to false (via setSprinting(false);) if the player is walking backwards.

So basically I want to inject some code, into the player class or LivingEntity or Entity, that lives inside the setSprinting method and cancels the function call on my wish.

And I've also looked at some other posts that are all trying to convince me to use some weird librarys, but I'm not sure if this works with what I'm trying to do.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would recommend taking a look at Obfuscate by MrCrayfish. I think it allows you to do things like that. But code injection and such is quite an advanced topic in modding.

There is no need to inject code in this case.

You might want to look at how vanilla code handles sprinting and manually simulate/trigger it.
