unable to add Optifine to forge

Whenever I launch forge with optifine in the mods folder it crashes with the message:

 

The game crashed whilst unexpected error

Error: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError:

net.minecraft.client.renderer.entity.EntityRendererManager.validateRendererExistence()V

 

I am using the most recent versions of both forge and optifine

I may have installed wrong, but almost every guide is the same and nothing works

 

Forge works fine without optifine if that helps

Please post logs as described in the EAQ, otherwise it's just guessing

i think that link should be the correct crash log

Go back to the optifine download page and read the changelog for the version you downloaded, it tells what versions of forge, if any, are compatible with it.

No problem, that's why I didn't simply say it wasn't compatible!
