Can I download older mods with a newer release?

So, I want to download mods for my game, but most of the mods I want are 1.12.2 but I have 1.15.2.  I downloaded 1.12.2 forge so I could have the mods I want and it still doesn't work.  I've come to the conclusion that I need 1.12.2 Minecraft to get these mods.  Is there anyway I can downgrade my Minecraft to 1.12.2 for the mods or do I just have to wait until the mod creators upgrade the mod. 

 

As Terdy mentioned above, you make a new Installation (they aren't called profiles anymore) in your launcher for whatever version(s) you want.

 

That being said, keep in mind that 1.12 is not supported here any longer, and if you have issues, you will have to go elsewhere for support. Moderators will close threads for old versions, since the focus is on modern MC/Forge.
