Posted June 10, 20205 yr I've been trying to learn how to override vanilla loot tables so I can change it. Does anyone know how to override loot tables in 1.15 modding on intellij
June 10, 20205 yr Create a new loot table. Give it the same name as the vanilla one you want to override Place it in the same directory under assets as the vanilla one has (so for example, data/minecraft/loot_tables/blocks/gold_ore.json) Fucking magic. Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice. Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked. DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
June 11, 20205 yr Author I made the loot table I just don't understand where to put it because I'm making this mod for my friend Edited June 11, 20205 yr by Phil_Billingsly
June 11, 20205 yr In the same place, with the same name, as the vanilla loot table. I can't tell you exactly because you haven't told me what loot table you're overriding. June 12, 20205 yr Sooo...you name your loot table spawner.json and place it in your mod's assets folder at data/minecraft/loot_tables/blocks/. June 13, 20205 yr Draco18s, you wrote the GlobalLootModifier code in Forge that solves this exact problem! Why are you recommending the bad vanilla solution? Replacing a vanilla loot table with one of your own breaks compatibility with any other mod that wants to tinker with the same loot table. We had that issue with mod shears and leaf blocks, remember? June 13, 20205 yr Because I think of it as a modify system, not a override system. It was a replacement for HarvestDropsEvent where you'd want to do conditional things. But sure, you want to tell this guy how to use the more complicated system when he couldn't even understand my first post that already had literal instructions, go right ahead. June 13, 20205 yr No, they don't pay me enough to do that. And if its for a private server or small modpack, I suppose just replacing the loot table would work okay. If it's for a mod to be released to the wilds of CurseForge.... oy.
