Ive heard stuff about key binding, but what is the most efficient way to see if the key associated with jumping is pressed/ way to know the player has attempted to jump.

You would have to detect the jumping with for example a KeyInputEvent, and then send a packet to the server to inform the server that it should perform a jump action on a player.

EDIT: Turns out there is a better way to do this, see diesieben's answer above.

You don't want to check for the key, as that is client-side only. You'd have to verify this server-side as well.

LivingEntity#isJumping will tell you if they are currently trying to jump. jumpTicks is used for the cooldown.

Ok most of this makes sense, but i dont know how to do the server side verification part.
