Hey, I did Ruby Block in my modification:

public class RubyBlock extends Block {

	public RubyBlock() {

		super(Block.Properties.create(Material.IRON)
			.hardnessAndResistance(5.0f, 6.0f)
			.sound(SoundType.METAL)
			.harvestLevel(2)
			.harvestTool(ToolType.PICKAXE)
		);

	}

}

I found a list of the hardness and resistance of all blocks on the Internet, the hardness of the emerald block is 5, resistance 6, so I set the same in my block. And now the problems:

  • Although the harvest level is set to 2, the block will drop an item even if i destroys it with a wooden or stone pickaxe,
  • When I place my block and emerald block next to each other and destroyed both with a stone and wooden pickaxe, my block breaks faster but iron, diamond and netherite pickaxes both destroy the same amount of time.

How is it possible? I'm from Polish and I don't know English well, I hope everything is understandable, but if not, I will try to explain what I mean better. I am a beginner, but I know java basics :)

Did you set it to require a tool?

Also I recommend NOT setting things up this way, as it makes things inflexible, set the properties when you invoke the constructor rather than in the constructor itself.

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.

I set the hardness, resistance, harvest level and harvest tool. I didn't know had to set up that it required a tool. How to set it up?
