In order to set up forge I:

- downloaded a new mcp

-installed modloader onto a fresh minecraft.jar

-used most recent forge (for 1.2.5) and updated MCP.

-put the bin & RESOURCES into mcp62/jars

-downloaded newest forge

-put forge folder in mcp62 folder

-downloaded fernflower and put in runtime/bin

-opened terminal (mac) and ran

"cd ~/mcp62/forge

bash install.sh"

I need the FULL Log.

Make sure that the conf folder is copied properly from mcp/forge/conf to mcp/conf

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

!! reformating disabled due to no astyle or config !!

You need to make sure that the conf folder from forge is used, so delete MCP/conf and copy MCP/forge/conf to MCP/conf

Also, make sure you have astyle installed.

That reformatting NEEDS to be run or everything will fubar.

It would be nice to see this info in the tutorial (or did I miss something?)

AStyle comes with MCP, we are not here to help you setup MCP, or to help you setup AStyle.

Well shouldn't it work???

If astyle is in MCP and I just downloaded MCP....

And I deleted the conf folder in MCP and replaced it with the conf folder in forge?

The scripts do that all automatically and properly.

Just extract MCP.

Setup minecraft pre-setup with modloader into MCP, do not run any script yet.

Put the forge directory into mcp

Run the script in the forge directory to install and setup into MCP, all automatic then.

Cant see shit in that low of quality.

Anyways mcp should have /runtime/bin/astyle-osx

If it doesnt have it, then something i wrong you need to go install it.

If it DOES have it, and MCP doesnt pick it up, something is wrong and <CP is screwed up, go install the non-packaged of astyle.

Anyways, google is your friend for how to install astyle.

try running astyle-osx in your /runtime/bin folder

./astyle-osx --version

Ok the 'error' I get (I think it's an error) when I run mcp62/runtime/bin/astyle-osx is

Last login: Sun May 13 08:35:11 on console
/Users/Andrew/Desktop/mcp62/runtime/bin/astyle-osx ; exit;
The-Shermans-iMac:~ Andrew$ /Users/Andrew/Desktop/mcp62/runtime/bin/astyle-osx ; exit;

I was getting the same errors and I checked out runtime/bin/astyle-osx. When I tried to run it from the Terminal I got a "Permission denied" error, so I checked the permissions and saw that those matched.

The problem was that when the file was downloaded, it got put in the special quarantine (the one that asks you if you're sure you want to open the downloaded file), so I opened it from Finder and chose yes.

This fixed the problem for me.  :)

    • Title: Why Is It So Hard to Rename and Restructure Mods Like Xray or AntiXray? 🤔 Post text: Hey everyone! I’ve been digging into Minecraft modding for a while and have one big question that I can’t figure out on my own. Maybe someone with more experience could help or give me some advice. Here’s the issue: When I take a “normal” Minecraft mod — for example, one that just adds some blocks or new items — I can easily change its structure, package names, or even rebrand it entirely. It’s straightforward. But as soon as I try this with cheat-type mods like XrayMod or AntiXray, everything falls apart. Even if I just rename the classes, refactor the packages, or hide its identity somehow, the mod either breaks or stops working properly. XrayMod in particular is proving to be a nightmare to modify without losing its core function. So my question is — why is this so much harder with cheat mods like Xray? Is there something fundamentally different about how they’re coded, loaded, or protected that prevents simple renaming or restructuring? And if so, how can I actually learn to understand someone else’s cheat mod enough to safely refactor it without breaking the core features? I’ve already been spending over two months trying to figure this out and haven’t gotten anywhere. It feels like there must be some trick or knowledge I’m missing. Would really appreciate any thoughts, tips, or references — maybe there are guides or techniques for understanding cheat-mod internals? Or if you’ve successfully “disguised” a cheat mod like Xray before, I’d love to hear how you did it. Thanks in advance for any help or discussion. ✌️

    • Where did you get the schematic? Source/Link? And do use an own modpack or a pre-configured from curseforge? If yes, which one On a later time, I can make some tests on my own - but I need the schematic and the modpack name
