  1. All right, I think I tracked it down, maybe, lots more errors to fix to its hard to tell. Anyway, the code I was previously basing this on was moved to RenderEntityItem. In there I found the function I needed, I'll post again once I can actually test this: renderItem.func_180454_a(itemStack, renderItem.getItemModelMesher().getItemModel(itemStack));
  2. As I said before, I am familiar with RenderSnowball and, in fact, I am using it where appropriate. However, right now that is not what I am looking for. RenderSnowball renders an item as a flat sprite which always faces the player. What I am looking for the replacement for "renderItemIn2D", a method which stretches out a sprite and renders it as a 3D model (why the name says 2D I will never know).
  3. I would quite happily do so if I had ANY idea what was going on, but I don't, hence why I am asking for help from more experienced and astute programmers than I. The only reason I figured it out the first time was because of the helpfully-named functions which no longer exist.
  4. No, that isn't what I want at all (already using it for other items btw), what I want is the extruded sprites you see when you drop an item with fancy graphics on. RenderSnowball just renders the item sprite as always facing the player. As I said I was able to do it in 1.7.10, but in 1.8 all the rendering functions have changed and alot of it is still obfuscated, making finding the replacement ridiculously difficult.
  5. Basically, I was previously using code found in RenderItem to render my Tomahawk as a 3D sprite when thrown. Unfortunately, with the massive rendering updates that function has disappeared, and I've had zero luck navigating the rat's nest of unmapped function names to figure out a replacement. Any suggestions? Here is the 1.7.10 version of the class: https://github.com/Renkin42/Renkin42SWT/blob/master/src/main/java/renkin42/stuffWorthThrowing/client/RenderTomahawk.java
  6. Okay, I got it fixed. I just needed to exclude README.txt where I excluded mcmod.info and then run gradle clean build. Thank you IRC!
  7. I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I have a README.txt in the same folder as my mcmod.info file (src/main/resources) which contains an explanation of my mod's versioning system among other things. I thought it might be a good idea to use gradle to automate adding the current version the same way I do with the mcmod.info file. I put the ${version} token in the README and included it in the build script after mcmod.info, but even though the replacement worked on mcmod, the README still says ${version}. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? 8. The item rendering stuff wasn't very helpful since this isn't an item, but I got it figured out. I just had the wrong numbers in the renderItemIn2D and the texture string wasn't static. After that I just had to mess with gltranslatef and glrotatef to get everything working.
  9. Okay, after some testing, I found out that the crashing was due to a null pointer exception on the icon. I put the numbers in manually and instead it created a black and purple box with one corner on the cursor. Any ideas?
  10. I am currently trying to create a throwable tomahawk. I want it to render in 2d with depth, like a dropped item. I can get the entity itself working, but rendering it either doesn't work or crashes the game. Can anyone here help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? Here are all the files involved: Main Mod File Item Registry Item File Entity File Client Proxy Render File
  11. At this point I'm not even worried about the item thing, I just want to get the event register working. Here is the full error from my log: [20:34:28] [Client thread/ERROR] [FML/]: Unable to determine registrant mod for net.minecraftforge.common.ForgeInternalHandler@6b8302a4. 12. I switched to using ItemStack.areItemStacksEqual, but still nothing. I've tried both @SubscribeEvent and @EventHandler annotations. I am, however, getting a rather interesting error in my log: [17:22:47] [Client thread/ERROR] [FML]: Unable to determine registrant mod for net.minecraftforge.common.ForgeInternalHandler@5f0f176. This is a critical error and should be impossible
  13. All right, I thought I had it, but it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? Here is the current event class. https://github.com/Renkin42/Renkin42SWT_Gradle/blob/unreleased/src/main/java/renkin42/stuffWorthThrowing/event/StuffWorthThrowingEvents.java
  14. All right, @SubscribeEvent seems to be okay, but I'm not sure how to use the event. I was looking at the PlayerUseItemEvent and the item is final, meaning I can't set it.
  15. func_149663_c seems to work, at least for me.
