[1.16.5] How to add Configured Feature to a vanilla biome?

It seems that in previous versions 

biome.addFeature

could be used to add features to a vanilla biome. Is there a way to replicate this in 1.16.5? I'm trying to add a custom tree configured feature to vanilla biomes.
