I made a post on this before but due to it being 1.12.2, it wasn't allowed support so I've updated to 1.16.5 and the issue still persists. Screenshot provided below- What do I do to fix this? The directory is correct.

This is the game directory: C:\Users\phoeb\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\mods   but the folder still get created and the game doesn't register that the mods are there, if any of that makes sense?

are there mods in the folder, because your mods are in the main folder

Edit: Also note that you use mods from different versions (1.16.2, 1.16.3, 1.16.4 and 1.16.5), and you use a Fabric mod

Ah! I didn't notice that. When I downloaded them, it said 1.16.5. As for the question, I could just be dumb haha but I'm unsure of what you mean?

it can be that the mod file description is wrong, you need to test
but if the game crashes, there is a high probability that you are using the wrong version of a mod

I've fixed all the ones that are a different version of the mod, so that isn't the problem anymore but the same problem still persists- That it keeps creatign the mod folders and the mods then aren't added into the game. If that makes sense?

The travel case is not luggage, the travel case goes INTO the luggage-I mean....
The mods folder is not the game directory, the mods folder goes INTO the game directory

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.

    • Also remove VS Create Armor, createbigcannons and The Factory Must Grow
    • Add the latest.log (logs-folder) with sites like https://mclo.gs/ and paste the link to it here
    • You are using Create 6 - some addons are not compatible with this version - add the addons one by one to find the incompatible ones Or Use Create 5 - but you also have to use older builds of the addons - addons updated March 2025 or later are usually for Create 6
