hello, it is assumed that when I download forge it should be installed as a file then open and join minecraft so that the mods option appears, but when I install it it is downloaded through internet explorer, and when I want to open it it does not leave me, alone once I let myself install it, but 2 things happened, 1- the option of mods did not appear in minecraft 2- a separate type of software was installed where there are already predetermined mods packages, someone help me PLEASE

Where did you download the installer from? Please give the exact URL.

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.

You're not even sure where you got Forge from?

Sorry if I do not understand very well, I am Mexican but from what I understood, install forge on the official page, what I want to know is how to make it so that it is not saved in Internet Explorer and pass it to a file or something like that, to put it in Minecraft

This is not a sufficient description, I need to know the URL because there are many lookalike sites that will claim to provide Forge but instead will give you a load of adware or malware

Ok so that's the correct site.

What's are you talking about with internet explorer, it should be giving you an option to save or run the file

I'll tell you, when I install it, instead of leaving as a document or file, the internet explorer logo appears and when I run it it only appears where I want to save it and it does not allow me to open it or run it, once I leave it, but a platform type of pack of default mods and I am not free to put some myself, when I installed that platform not even the files in minecraft of mods and shaders appeared.

Some zip managers like to take control of the .jar file extension away from Java.
Make sure you have Java installed and try running Jarfix once, then try the installer again.

when I want to install a mod or shader, it automatically installs me in internet explorer, it won't let me run it, or anything, if I try to open it, it just opens internet explorer and tells me to save, if I save it, nothing happens, I want to know how to install it normally as a file to put it directly into minecraft
