Posted August 2, 201213 yr This is driving me insane right now. I don't even understand how I can't find an answer via google, much less understand how I screwed this up...It's the most simple of steps for setting up a server. Someone please tell me it's not me being an idiot, and something else! I download latest minecraft_server.jar from minecraft.net I open with winrar, open forge version 3.3.8 from june 13th with winrar I then move (add & replace) all files from minecraft forge ZIP to minecraft_Server.jar I close out of ZIP windows and attempt to run minecraft_Server.jar.... Pop up says "A Java Exception has occurred" Help would be great, and thanks in advance.
August 2, 201213 yr No error, no help I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated. Consider supporting the team on Patreon
August 2, 201213 yr Seeing as I'm getting the same error, and I suspect it is related to the latest 1.3.1 update, here is the error output I've got. Steps: Download latest server JAR. Download recommended Forge API zip. Copy Forge API into JAR. Attempt to launch, get error. Server JAR runs fine without the Forge API classes added, and I've tried using your latest builds as well, hoping maybe you've fixed a 1.3.1 issue in them, but without success. Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: um at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(Unknown Source) at java.security.SecureClassLoader.defineClass(Unknown Source) at java.net.URLClassLoader.defineClass(Unknown Source) at java.net.URLClassLoader.access$100(Unknown Source) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at sun.launcher.LauncherHelper.checkAndLoadMain(Unknown Source) Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: um at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) ... 13 more
August 2, 201213 yr Wait Are you trying to install Forge into 1.3.1 Are you high? I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated. Consider supporting the team on Patreon
August 2, 201213 yr Maybe, I saw a specific version listed for older releases, but couldn't find any specific info saying if forge was or wasn't 1.3.1 compatible with the latest/recommended. Hence I gave it a try, since it couldn't hurt. I figured it wasn't compatible, no big deal, just gotta wait for an update. Your initial response to this thread however suggested maybe it was supposed to be working. (As he stated he was using the latest version.) Either way, problem resolved, keep on rolling with 1.2.5 for now. Hopefully you get 1.3.1 support going soon, and thanks for the hard work!
