Hi!

I am working on a mod where I would like to add keybinds that execute specific commands (such as gamemode creative or give carrot 5)

E.G.

T+@ runs command (gamemode creative)

K+# runs command (give apple 3)

My Idea to making this work was to get the specific player names into variables and before executing, once a keybind is pressed, check if any players on the server had the same name name as the ones stored in the variables, it will then execute

a command, however it would use the playerName to run the command at this player E.G. (gamemode creative playerA)

I read about NameFormats but they haven't been very well documented over the newer versions and I am still struggling to figure this out, any help is massively appreciated!

first of all you need the KeyBinding, register it in FMLClientSetupEvent via ClientRegistry.registerKeyBinding
subscribe to the TickEvent.Client, check the pahse of the event and KeyBinding#isDown.
if this is the case send a custom Packet to the Server, on server-side check if the player can perform this command then execute the it

for the Commands you want to perform, you can look at the vanilla Commands
