Overriding RenderPlayer

Hello,

Part of my mod requires me to override part of RenderPlayer, to make it so only some players can render other players.

There is a class located in net.minecraftforge.client.event called RenderPlayerEvent, however that class doesn't seem to be working.

Is there any event which would allow me to override portions of the render, or must I look elsewhere for a replacement?

"portions"

like stop rendering the arms ?

if yes then you will need ASM

btw RenderPlayerEvent works but you have to use one of its sub event (RenderPlayerEvent.Post or Pre)

the member entityPlayer is the player being rendered

since its a client side method you can use Minecraft.getMinecraft().thePlayer to get who is the player rendering the others

thsi problem smells like packets

I added the override to my class and when I tested the override out it stopped rendering the whole world for a split second then crashed with several NullPointerExceptions.

This is the code eclipse pointed me to which was causing the exceptions (apparently)

if(myClass.instance().myMethod(playerBeingRendered, myOtherClass.instance()))

Which returns a boolean if the player has a trait I assign in a different class.
