Hi folks - new forum member, but been using Forge with Java Minecraft for about a year now. I downloaded the 1.19 update for Forge and my two mapping mods today and now I get Exit Error 1 when I try to launch.

Happy to provide more detail, but will need some guidance on where to find what you need to support as I'm not a dev. I'm running on a Mac, so I'm pretty familiar with where the Minecraft files are and can access my console, but I'll need clear instructions on which code is needed :)

Okay, since my last post:

  • I've updated my OS and tried again with 1.19 - same error
  • Removed my mods and tried again with 1.19 - same error
  • Reset back to 1.18.2 (40.1.51) - the launcher finally worked, but I cannot play because the Realm I play on is on 1.19

It definitely appears to be an issue with Forge 1.19 and I've tried both 41.0.15 and 41.0.16 to no avail. Will go back to 41.0.14 in a sec, but it's not Minecraft or the mods causing the issue. It's definitely something about the 1.19 Forge update.

Same problem here. No error message in any log files.

I'm using macOS 12.4, don't know if it's system realted problem.

EDIT:

The last line of log before it exit with code 1 is

[Minecraft/DataFixers]: Building optimized datafixer

EDIT:

I tested on my windows laptop, every thing works perfectly.

I have the same issue.   While the forge version is named ....32,   It's actual version is ....22.    In addition, the latest videos on installing forge showed using version ....40.    Something wacky is going on with forge updates and fixes.   For me, it is still broken on windows 11.

Had the same error at 1.19 at this day

(Windows user)

If you deinstall Minecraft as Programm all the Files in the "%appdata%" > ".minecraft" folder stay there.

So I only deleted all the Files out of there and redownloaded everything and it worked now.

If you dont want to lose your Server list or specific worlds you should safe it out of the folder and replace it after.

(I dont know where the problem was but you can try this on your own with the other files/folders as well)

Hope I could help mac users as well :)

Here is an important update.   I got forge to work on my computer.

First, I used forge in MC 1.18.  So everything was previously set up.   So, I deleted the 1.18 mods out of my mods folder, but I still had the problem described above.

Then, I found an older post, something like 2017.  I have gone to far to retrieve it now.  It said to delete the file.....forge-client.toml in .minecraft/config    So, I tried it, but it did not work.

I then said what the h..l, there is also forge-common.toml right below the deleted forge-client.toml.   I then deleted it along with the newly created forge-client.

SUCCESS!   I have been playing in the world for the last two days with no issues.   When I restarted a world, or maybe when I started the launcher, both files were created.  But now, the exit code one stopped appearing.

Perhaps, someone here can clearly explain why this worked.   I tried it because I suspected the "common" file had config data related to multiple accounts or multiple MC configurations.  I just proceeded with NO FEAR.  After all, at worst I would reinstall the launcher or MC.

Update your javas to java 17 (required for 1.19). No restart required.
Load game without mods and see if it works.
Some 1.19 mods also seem to be bugging-- MCA 1.19 for me was an issue

I had same issue until I did this so hopefully it works for everyone.
