The installer keeps downloading as a normal .Jar file rather than an executable one.

Is there something I should have downloaded or..?

It is because installer is java TM platform file.

If it doesn't open when you double click right click it choose open with and then choose java TM platform

NOTE not every java file will open with java TM platform.

Once i tried to open minecraft.jar and it kept just loading loading and loading until i moved the .jar file and placed it back.

Sorry If i made a misstake in text.

English is not my valid language.

You don't open minecraft.jar. USE THE INSTALLER, then run your LAUNCHER.

Read the EAQ before posting! OR ELSE!

This isn't building better software, its trying to grab a place in the commit list of a highly visible github project.

Well i like to use minecraft forge universal.

An i was talking about the old mod installation when you needed to open minecraft.jar.

You don't do that now. The installer will install universal for you.

Use it, because it's a PITA to manually install forge in 1.6.

If the installer doesnt open normally, run jarfix if you're on windows then come back to us if even that doesnt work.
