Is it OK that I usually read other mods' open source code for learning without any permission?

Usually when I want add something into my mod, but don't know how to make it, and there is an other mod where the similar feature was sucsessfully done, I see for its source code if it's open to learn how author managed it. But now I start to think that it could be a bit unfair that I do it without any permission from the author. And here we are, I decided just to aks such a question to the community to know what do you guys think about it.

P.S. Sorry if I made mistakes in my English, it's not my native and don't have a high level of it.

If the mod is open source, then it is completely fine, and likely one of the reasons the mod author made their mod open source to begin with.

If you release a mod, perhaps include the authors of open source mods that have given you help/inspiration in your credits/thanks/readme.

Reading is definitely acceptable because it is a learning experience. However id look at the license before using their code to see what they allow.
