How to "extract" the downloaded MDK into an empty directory? MacOS

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm reading this, and am a little confused with step 3. I did download this: "forge-1.18.2-40.1.84-installer.jar", but once I double click to open it, it opens "SimpleInstaller" (which makes sense), and gives me three options

- Install client

- Install server

- Extract

I did "Extract" as it said in the documentation, but that only ended with getting an "installer.log" file. Was I supposed to do something else?

You downloaded the main forge installer.

You want the mdk. It is a separate link on the download page.

You should get a zip file with a name like forge-version-mdk.zip which you can unzip into a folder of your choosing.

If you don't post your logs/debug.log we can't help you. For curseforge you need to enable the forge debug.log in its minecraft settings. You should also post your crash report if you have one.

If there is no error in the log file and you don't have a crash report then post the launcher_log.txt from the minecraft folder. Again for curseforge this will be in your curseforge/minecraft/Install

Large files should be posted to a file sharing site like https://gist.github.com  You should also read the support forum sticky post.
