Im trying to launch forge release 1.18.2-forge-40.2.0 and when I do it gives me "Exit Code 1" I looked that up and i found the fix which was a missing Java Executable "C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft\runtime\jre-x64\1.8.0_25\bin\javaw.exe" which i typed and found in the folder, but now when i hit play it says
Unable to locate the Java runtime.

Error details: 0x00000000 - system: The operation completed successfully.

Filename on disk: javaw.exe

Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft\runtime\jre-x64\1.8.0_25\bin\javaw.exe

Exists: Nonexistent

even though i see the javaw.exe file

EDIT: I realized i didnt have the \1.8.0_25\ file and i deleted it from the pathway and it still didnt work

You need java 17 for minecraft 1.18.2

Boilerplate:

If you don't post your logs/debug.log we can't help you. For curseforge you need to enable the forge debug.log in its minecraft settings. You should also post your crash report if you have one.

If there is no error in the log file and you don't have a crash report then post the launcher_log.txt from the minecraft folder. Again for curseforge this will be in your curseforge/minecraft/Install

Large files should be posted to a file sharing site like https://gist.github.com  You should also read the support forum sticky post.
