Basically, I'm trying to make a block that spawns in one of my structures, and when it's generated, I want it to spawn an entity and replace itself with air.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something, here is my code:

package terramagna.blocks;

import java.util.Random;

import cpw.mods.fml.common.registry.GameRegistry;
import net.minecraft.block.material.Material;
import net.minecraft.creativetab.CreativeTabs;
import net.minecraft.entity.EntityLivingBase;
import net.minecraft.item.ItemStack;
import net.minecraft.world.World;

public class BlockSpawnEntity extends BlockBase
{

public BlockSpawnEntity(int id, Material material, String name, CreativeTabs tab)
{

	super(id, material, name, tab);

	setUnlocalizedName(name);
	GameRegistry.registerBlock(this, this.getUnlocalizedName());
	this.setCreativeTab(tab);
	this.setTickRandomly(true);

}

@Override
public void onBlockAdded(World par1World, int par2, int par3, int par4)
{

	System.out.println("HIIIIIIIII");

}

}

I'm pretty sure onBlockAdded doesn't fire when the world is generating. I might be wrong, though.

onBlockAdded is when you place a block next to your mod.

Use onBlockPlacedBy

that is what you need^^"

None of the "onBlock..." functions are called during chunk generation, to do that you need to find and override the chunk generation code to insert your block. This is no easy task.

For reference, this is the order in which the functions are called when you place a block:

  • onBlockPlaced() client
  • onBlockPlacedBy() client
  • onBlockPlaced() server
  • onBlockAdded() server
  • onBlockPlacedBy() server

The "client" labels indicate that world.isRemote returned TRUE. Again, none of these functions are called during chunk generation.

Yeah but when you generate a block then

you can use the onBlockPlacedBy in the worldGenerator.

I had to test a view things with this.

Time flows to fast for coding^*

Is there anyway to detect if a player is within a certain number of blocks?
