Posted January 20, 20232 yr I am making an item that when used, lightning strikes down the direction the player is looking and at a distance. Code I have so far: import net.minecraft.core.BlockPos; import net.minecraft.network.FriendlyByteBuf; import net.minecraft.server.level.ServerLevel; import net.minecraft.server.level.ServerPlayer; import net.minecraft.world.entity.EntityType; import net.minecraft.world.entity.MobSpawnType; import net.minecraft.world.item.ItemStack; import net.minecraftforge.network.NetworkEvent; import java.util.function.Supplier; public class CreateLightningC2SPacket { public CreateLightningC2SPacket() { } public CreateLightningC2SPacket(FriendlyByteBuf buf) { } public void toBytes(FriendlyByteBuf buf) { } public boolean handle(Supplier<NetworkEvent.Context> supplier) { NetworkEvent.Context context = supplier.get(); context.enqueueWork(() -> { // HERE WE ARE ON THE SERVER! ServerPlayer player = context.getSender(); ServerLevel level = player.getLevel(); EntityType.LIGHTNING_BOLT.spawn(level, (ItemStack) null, null, new BlockPos(player.getX(), player.getY(), player.getZ()), MobSpawnType.COMMAND, true, false); }); return true; } }
January 20, 20232 yr Author lol forgot to add question, I don't know how to change the position of the lightning strike to be a number of blocks away from the player in the direction they are looking, so how would I go around doing that? Edited January 20, 20232 yr by Dank3yKang
January 20, 20232 yr Quote EntityType.LIGHTNING_BOLT.spawn(level, (ItemStack) null, null, new BlockPos(player.getX(), player.getY(), player.getZ()), Change the BlockPos to where you want it to spawn. Example calculations can be found in vanilla code, e.g. GhastShootFireballGoal or Panda.afterSneeze() Boilerplate: If you don't post your logs/debug.log we can't help you. For curseforge you need to enable the forge debug.log in its minecraft settings. You should also post your crash report if you have one. If there is no error in the log file and you don't have a crash report then post the launcher_log.txt from the minecraft folder. Again for curseforge this will be in your curseforge/minecraft/Install Large files should be posted to a file sharing site like https://gist.github.com You should also read the support forum sticky post.
