Installing Forge 7.8.1.738 with the "new" Minecraft Launcher

OK, my problem's pretty simple and I'm sorry if it's been asked a million times (yes, I checked the EAQ).

 

I've just "upgraded" to the "new" MineCraft launcher but am still running 1.5.2 because many of my favorite mods haven't updated to 1.6.x yet. As a result, I need to install Forge 7.8.1.738, which does not have an easy-to-use installer.

 

Could somebody kindly point me at instructions on how to install .738 under the new launcher?

It's pretty complicated, I recommend you use MultiMC instead.
