Posted April 24, 20232 yr I want to modify a class from another mod using my mod. Is there a way to swap the functionality of an existing item from another mod? How could I do that? Thanks.
April 24, 20232 yr Short answer is don't do that. Speak to the original mod author about getting the behaviour you want. Or if they don't want to do that, create your own item and let end users or modpack developers choose to use your item by modifying the crafting recipes. Boilerplate: If you don't post your logs/debug.log we can't help you. For curseforge you need to enable the forge debug.log in its minecraft settings. You should also post your crash report if you have one. If there is no error in the log file and you don't have a crash report then post the launcher_log.txt from the minecraft folder. Again for curseforge this will be in your curseforge/minecraft/Install Large files should be posted to a file sharing site like https://gist.github.com You should also read the support forum sticky post.

My idea in making these modifications is because I want to create a mod for a custom modpack, and some mechanics from certain mods could interfere, since the modpack would modify many things.
April 24, 20232 yr Then just create your own item and override the recipes to produce your item as the output. To make it work properly, you will need to specify "AFTER" as the ordering in the mod dependencies in your mods.toml https://forge.gemwire.uk/wiki/Mods.toml Or you can use a mod like Kubejs or crafttweaker to modify the recipes using a script.
