Green_Coati Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 I'm trying to take a mod that when the player is displayed a title, the event will be canceled if the title text meets certain conditions. However, I can't figure out how to detect that title. I found this way to cancel all titles, but I don't know how to get the text component. @SubscribeEvent public void onRenderGuiOverlay(RenderGuiOverlayEvent event) { if (event.getOverlay().id().toString().equals("minecraft:title_text")) { event.setCanceled(true); } } I've tried modifying this method for an older version but I couldn't get that to work. Anyone know how to do this? Quote
warjort Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Do you mean this? https://github.com/MinecraftForge/MinecraftForge/blob/ab70bde1d648125acee073a93a25d4b8f08985c9/src/main/java/net/minecraftforge/client/gui/overlay/VanillaGuiOverlay.java#L173 You match something like this (I don't remember the exact code) if (event.getOverlay() == VanillaGuiOverlay.TITLE_TEXT.type) { // Do stuff } The title itself is a protected field on the object Minecraft.getInstance().gui So you will either need to use reflection to access it or use an AccessTransformer to make it public: https://forge.gemwire.uk/wiki/Access_Transformers I would also guess you want to listen for the event: Quote RenderGuiOverlayEvent.Pre You are currently listening on both Pre And Post. Post is not cancellable and too late for what you are doing anyway. Quote Boilerplate: If you don't post your logs/debug.log we can't help you. For curseforge you need to enable the forge debug.log in its minecraft settings. You should also post your crash report if you have one. If there is no error in the log file and you don't have a crash report then post the launcher_log.txt from the minecraft folder. Again for curseforge this will be in your curseforge/minecraft/Install Large files should be posted to a file sharing site like https://gist.github.com You should also read the support forum sticky post.
Green_Coati Posted August 20, 2023 Author Posted August 20, 2023 Thank you so much warjort! I was eventually able to get it working thanks to your help. Quote
