Posted August 17, 201213 yr I have yet to find something that specifically states exactly what ForgeAPI is, what it does, and how it is different than using just ModLoader(yes, i know FML is integrated). Anyone mind giving me a brief run down on how this API would benefit me as a modder?
August 17, 201213 yr Event system Texture fixes Tons of code on top of MC that makes almost all mods able to be mods folder mods Lots of bug fixes for mc itself Think of Forge as an entire toolbox, where as ML is a single small flathead. I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated. Consider supporting the team on Patreon
August 17, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the response, I guess there just isn't enough information / tutorials on this API out yet. I wasn't able to get much from the wiki. Is this pretty much the direction modders are taking?
August 17, 201213 yr It should be unlike the majority of other 'apis' out there, we are: open continuously evolving working with the community providing things modders needs trying to help prepare modders for the fabled api. etc... If you're a modder, you should try out forge. It make take a little bit to get used to, but it is worth it. I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated. August 17, 201213 yr I first started with ModLoader then overtime changed each little part to forge. I still rely on ModLoader for some things but now its mainly forge.
August 17, 201213 yr The main-reasons I'm using Forge are: modloader isn't working properly (yet) instead of modloader, modloaderMP, audiomod and PlayerAPI, I just need Forge (I'm not sure about PlayerAPI, I'll take a look on events later) all from the posts above My mods: TF2 Teleporter + Sentry + Dispenser Familiars API SpecialArmor & PrinterBlock
