Posted November 30, 201311 yr Hi, is there a way to save the NBTData to a string and load it from? I know there is a method toString(), but a method to parse From String doesn't exit. Also the toString() method doesn't save the type of an entry. Is there a way to do it or should i do it on my own?
November 30, 201311 yr Author Oh i think you understood me wrong. I want to save the whole NBT Data in a string.
November 30, 201311 yr Then what do you think of NBTBase.readNamedTag(DataInput) NBTBase.writeNamedTag(NBTBase, DataOutput) ?
November 30, 201311 yr You CAN'T save an NBT to a string, it's a compressed data file. Literally. It's bzipped. The whole point of NBT is to serialize data to save it to a disc, why on earth would you want to turn it into a string? The toString() function exists because all complex data types inherit from Object, and Object has a toString() function. It's useful for printing things to the debug window. December 1, 201311 yr Author I'm working on my mod CraftingManager. I programming a way to add new recipes. I save the recipes in the config file. I have to save the NBTData and that can only be a string.
December 1, 201311 yr CompressedStreamTools That class contains methods to read and write to File with NBTTagCompound.
December 1, 201311 yr Author Is there a very simple why to convert a file to a string? The File from CompressedStreamTools.
December 1, 201311 yr CompressedStreamTools That class contains methods to read and write to File with NBTTagCompound. This. NBTdata is already a File object (sort of) so there's no reason to convert that to a string. Using NBT files is actually really super easy. You can in fact treat NBT files as config-like objects (someone I know is doing that, just due to the sheer volume of information being stored).
