Posted December 22, 201311 yr I am pretty sure that minecraft has something like this, and I wanted to know if there is variable or boolean function to get this. Isn't it used in gravel or something like that so you don't get infinite flint? Just wondering where the function is, I thought for a second that block.getEnableStats() would work but it didn't work.
December 22, 201311 yr I'm pretty sure that gravel doesn't use this considering that you can get flint from breaking a block that you placed... If you really want help, give that modder a thank you. Modders LOVE thank yous.
December 22, 201311 yr Author Oh dang, I think it used to do it that way. Interesting. Guess ill rework my idea some then. (didn't think that infinite flint would be possible) never worked when I tried it before. Oh well haha Thanks
December 22, 201311 yr It might have been implemented with Equivalent Exchange or some other mod so it wasn't OP, but I don't think vanilla really cares if you have unlimited flint. If you really want help, give that modder a thank you. Modders LOVE thank yous.
December 22, 201311 yr Vanilla makes no distinctions between placed and natural blocks. Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice. Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked. DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
December 22, 201311 yr I can imagine a hack for this. Seeing that you only occasionally will want to investigate whether a block is natural or placed, you can use an octree structure. The octree would represent the status of some particular block as a boolean where the tree would simply return "false" if a search finds no node at that point. The big problem is how to update the octree whenever a player places a block. There might be a block placement event or something like that you can use. Whenever that event is triggered, update the tree.
