[Unsolved] Where are the grass block texture overlays rendered? [1.6.4]

Hello, I have a question for you guys out there: Does anyone know where the grass texture overlays are rendered? I need this for my block that uses the textures from the block below it, and it works alright exept for the grass blocks, because that uses the colorMultiplier method.

Don't PM me with questions. They will be ignored! Make a thread on the appropriate board for support.

Why don't you just use the color multiplier method from the BlockGrass? A quick copy and paste.

I tried that, but then i got this:

Render in multiple passes.  In the second pass render the overlay texture with the color multiplier.

Giant class called RenderBlocks.java, if I recall correctly.  I don't recommend looking through it, it's not organized in a fashion that will help you.

In that "Giant pile of code" where exactly can i find the methode where the grass block is rendered? Is it a seperate method for the grass block or for all blocks the same? Maybe some keywords to find the method where the grass block is rendered?

Look for a case statement.  There's one main one that takes the block ID and passes off the rendering for certain blocks in various ways.  Grass may have its own, if not it falls into a standard cube renderer.

hi

grass is rendered in renderStandardBlockWithAmbientOcclusion or renderStandardBlockWithColourMultiplier depending on whether the fancy lighting option is turned on or not.

A lot of blocks are rendered in these two methods (basically the method draws a cube, asking the block for the texture for each of its sides in turn), but the difference for grass is that the methods are full of "special case for grass" code, eg

            if (fancyGrass && icon.getIconName().equals("grass_side") && !this.hasOverrideBlockTexture())
            {
                tessellator.setColorOpaque_F(f11 * par5, f14 * par6, f17 * par7);
                this.renderFaceZNeg(par1Block, (double)par2, (double)par3, (double)par4, BlockGrass.getIconSideOverlay());
            }

Some more background information here, if you're interested - see the "Block rendering" topics

The colour for grass is set based on the biome and the temperature, from memory.  But you want to apply the multiplier to the "grass" bit only, not the dirt.  I'd suggest you draw the dirt, then draw the colour-multiplied grass on top of it.  Could use two passes like Draco suggested, or write your own ISimpleBlockRenderingHandler to do it directly, similar to the code for vanilla grass.
