The Forge jar does not launch.

Here are the relevant details:

I'm running on OS X "Mavericks" 10.9.1

forge-1.6.4-9.11.1.965 works fine

I have tried turning off my firewall

I am not using an antivirus

I am using forge-1.7.2-10.12.0.976, I have tried forge-1.7.2-10.12.0.975 and it doesn't work either

I am installing the server version of Forge into an empty folder

I have tried starting from scratch multiple times

The messages I get when I use the installer with terminal:

The server start script I'm using:

#!/bin/bash
cd "$(dirname "$0")"
exec java -Xmx1G -Xms1G -jar forge-1.7.2-10.12.0.976-universal.jar

The messages I get when trying to launch the universal jar file, after running the minecraft server jar once:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: joptsimple/OptionSpec

... 4 more

Looking at the error messages it would appear that:

1) https://libraries.minecraft.net/net/minecraft/launchwrapper/1.9/launchwrapper-1.9.jar.pack.xz and https://libraries.minecraft.net/org/ow2/asm/asm-all/4.1/asm-all-4.1.jar.pack.xz just give 403 errors

2) joptsimple/OptionSpec isn't being installed/detected

Alright, just tried that out, unfortunately it still doesn't work :(

I'm assuming you mean the ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/libraries folder?

If I copy and paste that folder into the Forge server folder and choose to merge, when I try launching the universal jar it still says:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: joptsimple/OptionSpec
at java.lang.Class.forName0(Native Method)
at java.lang.Class.forName(Class.java:270)

at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:308)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:358)
... 4 more

Looking at that it would seem joptsimple/OptionSpec still isn't being installed/detected. Also, I copied the libraries folder after installing Forge client builds 976, 916 and 871.

And just in case this info is useful, if I choose to replace, when I try launching the universal jar it says:

We appear to be missing one or more essential library files.
You will need to add them to your server before FML and Forge will run successfully.java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: net.minecraft.launchwrapper.Launch

JOpt missing is caused by you not having the minecraft server jar in your work directory named properly.

As for the download troubles, Mojang's server are having issues, not much we can do about it.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

Also, the same error about JOpt Simple occurs even with build 982. I've even tried using this launch command: java -cp minecraft_server.1.7.2.jar -jar (forge jar)

    • Version 1.19 - Forge 41.0.63 I want to create a wolf entity that I can ride, so far it seems to be working, but the problem is that when I get on the wolf, I can’t control it. I then discovered that the issue is that the server doesn’t detect that I’m riding the wolf, so I’m struggling with synchronization. However, it seems to not be working properly. As I understand it, the server receives the packet but doesn’t register it correctly. I’m a bit new to Java, and I’ll try to provide all the relevant code and prints *The comments and prints are translated by chatgpt since they were originally in Spanish* Thank you very much in advance No player is mounted, or the passenger is not a player.
