Forge 1.6.4 version 9.11.1.965 crashes with mods

Featured Replies

I downloaded and installed forge correctly. I was even able to load a couple mods and play the game successfully. I tried to install optifine and rpwlatest jar files and now i can not load forge with mods. I have tried deleting the game and reinstalling it and forge loader with no success. If I load the forge profile with NO mods in the folder, it will load the game and worlds just fine. As soon as I extract any of the mods into the folder that previously worked, it crashes the game.

Here is the crash report from xray

Try just taking out the Xray mod, It looks as though the Xray mod has a severe problem, considering it says it doesn't contain any proper files. I'm not surprised, Optifine would be the kind of mod that would be incompatible.

I reinstalled the game and did not reinstall optifine. I am getting the error with any mod I add into the folder. I will try what you stated and post a reply.

Still not having any luck. I have tried reverting back to a previous restore point to see if that helps, no success. The mods I downloaded were stated to be stable to forge and are for 1.6.4. Is there somewhere else I should be looking for lingering optifine traces that are effecting the loading of mods?

Side note, I have tried re-downloading the mods and still not working.

Don't install it at all. Delete the 'de' folder in your mods folder.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

http://www.minecraftmods.com/x-ray-mod/ is the link. The way I installed it was extracted the zip file to the mod folder itself. It worked the first time i did it. It is doing the same for all of the mods I have downloaded. I did my research on what sites to avoid. I did not, however, do everything I was supposed to obviously.

The typical place to get mods is the minecraft forums and the associated official page.

Most other websites are bad in one way or the other.

Either way, seems to be a mod issue, like I said, remove it.

LexManos, I have done that. I understand downloading from the forums but even those mods are causing the same crash. I hope this does not come across as condescending but how do you explain the mods working and then not working? I really feel as though it has something to do with the .jar files that I tried installing for optifine hd and .MCRPW. I am unable to locate anything in my registry nor am I able to find any other cause for the crash. I am going to re-update my java and restore my system to an earlier point almost a month ago to ensure that the files are reverted to before the .jar changes. I will post a reply. I am only being diligent about this because I have seen others with this same problem on other forums but have not received a response. I honestly enjoy the game without add-ons. I just want to know that I can have add-ons if I want them. Thanks for your responses, LexManos. I do appreciate acknowledgment.

OK, I officially feel like an idiot . I kept reading over the part where it says NOT to extract the zip file. I had both xrays zip and extracted files in the Mod folder, and that was why I couldn't figure out what had changed. I am so used to always having to extract files, I just read over that important piece of information. I have been able to get three other mods to work as well.

So to sum everything up, DO NOT extract the .zip file to the mod folder, just copy the .zip to the mod folder. Thanks for all the help everyone. It is nice to join a forum and get prompt responses, despite my over sight.
