I've made a method which requires 5 items to be given to it as parameters however sometimes i need to pass gravel to it, I've looked in Block, Item, and ItemBlock and i can't find any way to do this, is there a way to get an item instance of a block or allow either a Block or Item to be given to a function (Like forge does with registering recipes)?

Hi

Like nearly all Blocks, gravel has a corresponding ItemBlock, it is automatically created in the static initialiser for Block.

So like dieSieben says, if you use ItemStack you can pass in gravel.

new ItemStack(theBlock.blockID, 1, theBlock.damageDropped(metadata))

(where metadata is for eg different colours of carpet)
