Hi,

I am pretty new to modding and was wondering if there is a way to make cacti do more damage when a player touches them. If this requires a coremod, how would I go about patching the BlockCactus class? Is there a way to replace it altogether without severely harmony compatibility?

Thanks.

Check out my mod, Realms of Chaos, here.

use a eventhandler and check when the player collides with the block and add damage manualy

Only code when your having fun doing it.

Oh ew, no.  Event handler yes, but that's the wrong event.  Use LivingHurtEvent.

@SubscribeEvent
    public void onEntityGetDamage(LivingHurtEvent event)
    {
        String type = event.source.damageType;

        if (type.equals("cactus"))
        {
            event.entityLiving.setHealth(event.entityLiving.getHealth() - 100500);
        }
    }

Also, you can check the entityLiving is a player

A hundred thousand damage? o..O
